Common Pony Questions

Quite often, I see the same questions asked over and over again. I’m guessing this is becase long term collectors don’t remember about the collection newbie, not out of malice or anything. I want to create a list of commonly asked questions and their answers, just to help out the collecting newb.

~*What does SS/FF/CF/NSS/TE/FT/BBE/NBBE/omgwtf/etc. mean?*~

CF is concave foot. This describes the hooves of all but the first 6 Ponies. Those are referred to as FF, or flat-foot.

SS is So Soft and NSS is Non-So Soft. So Softs are, of course, the fuzzy, flocked Ponies in Years 4 and 5. Normally, NSS is attached to a So Soft’s non-flocked International. Some may use it to refer to the Year 3 releases of some So Softs.

TE stands for Twinkle Eye. These are the Ponies from Years 4 and 5 with jewels for their eyes.

BBE and NBBE are Beddy-Bye Eyes and Non-Beddy Bye Eyes. BBEs are the somewhat disturbing baby Ponies with eyes that open and close. Some were released as NBBEs internationally.

FT is First Tooth. These were a line of baby Ponies with a single tooth.

MGR is a Merry-Go-Round pony. This was a group of 6 fancy Earth ponies with molded saddles.

TAF is a Twice as Fancy Pony. This line had symbols that covered their sides and some had symbols on their backs. They have a simplified version of their symbol on their face (either forehead or cheek).

MIB/NIB/MIP/NIP/NRFB/MOC are all terms that mean one thing: This Pony has never been removed from her orignal packaging. They mean: mint in box, new in box, mint in package, new in package, never removed from box, mint on card. There’s a whole mess of others I’ve seen, but these are the most common I’ve noticed.

CB. This term means this Pony is more than likely in really bad shape. She’s only suitable for customization.

(Let me know about any I’ve missed. I’m typing this at 5:20 am. :D)

~*Are those magnets in the hooves of G3s?*~
Yes. Don’t put them on your computer/tv/VHS tapes/other sensitive things. Stick them on the fridge door instead. :3

~*How much is (Pony) worth?*~
Depends on demand and how many are around, and depends on how much you’re willing to spend. You can also take a look at http://www.hallelnet.com/von/pricingguide/mylittleponypricelistings.htm to get an idea.
